A wonderful museum which I have visited many times. It offers special exhibit. A must see is the China House and adjoining art displays. Parking garage is close. Other historic houses and points of interest in Salem.

This is an excellent, surprisingly large, museum that is right in the heart of downtown Salem. Salem residents have no excuse not to go (free to residents) and even at the price of a normal ticket (I believe around $19), it's well worth it thanks to the many great exhibits, especially the exciting ones that come in for a few months each. It's just a great way to spend a few hours in a day.

Besides that, the place was very clean and the other exhibits they had for the regular admission was okay to look at. I don't think that we would go again but it was worth a one time visit.

Dynamic, inteiguing museum. They started with specific Salem trade and broadened to the cultures the trade with. Everything from ancient Oceania up to modern fashion and, most recently, horror movie posters. This is a thoughtful and creative museum in a lovely building. Smaller than MFA but still more than enough for a whole day or more. As a bonus, has a yummy sandwich shop and has a gift shop that solves many a holiday shopping rush. Parking nearby, wheelchair accessible, reasonably priced, does have a coatroom.

My family went in early November. There was a great ancient Chinese house exhibit which I would have loved to see. Too bad it cost extra on top of the price we had to pay for 4. My husband wasn't interested in paying the extra fee (sad face).

Price of admission is a bit pricey considering what they have to offer.

As a small museum, it finds it's specialization. For me, the most interesting part of this museum is that it finds the historical Salem as a port and its connection with China and Japan and the rest of Asia. The museum has two of sections demonstrated the vessels used at that time and people life, it also introduces the Asian art. I thin this museum find the right angle: port and trade, and use it as theme to get the collection and the display
