I went in and they gave me a run around, the person who handles the new cards Miss Depena basically looked down and was extremely judgey at me for the birth being a home birth, as if I was a bad parent for that. She said they needed records that the midwife saw the baby in the past two weeks because they wanted to make sure the baby is alive. She said I could fax the information over. The midwife faxed it to them but the first fax number they gave me was incorrect, I confirmed it three times with them and the number was out of service. They then gave me a second number and it went through, have the confirmation sheet. Two weeks later still no card. called today and they said they never got it and that if they don't receive it by Tuesday they will shred the paperwork and I will have to come in yet again to go through all this...again.
Aren't these people supposed to be civil servants that assist people?
We went in without an appointment at a time which, fortunately, turned out to be not very busy. The clerk at the counter was very pleasant and helpful. He offered us an opportunity to meet with a counselor which turned into an hour and fifteen minute appointment. The counselor was fantastic and informed us of benefits we did not know about. With retroactive activation of my social security retirement benefit and the added stipend for my wife we walked out with everything we had hoped to accomplish including signing up for Medicare Part A! He was patient beyond belief with our many questions and clarifications, provided documentation of the entire transaction, and did this all when he thought it was a five minute Medicare sign up before he was about to go on break. There was none of the attitude expressed by other reviewers. He clearly explained every thing we asked and did it all with a pleasant smile. Great experience!!
I literally just got off the phone with one guy...wait..not got off the phone. he HUNG UP ON ME!
The person I talked to refused...REFUSED to give me her name. She kept interrupting me, talking over me and when I told her I wanted her name she said "no because you are going to say you sent me the fax when I have nothing to do with this". Which is not the case, I wanted her name so when I called back I could say I talked to so and so.
Mostly nice people, except for 1. Nasty, Nasty Nasty, shouldn't be working there!
This office is NEVER open. Three hours a day, that's it. That's less than a part-time job. What else are these people doing? Are they on disability themselves?
Before he hung up on me I explained all that I have been through. He told me that the card was mailed out last week and to wait a week., I told him I am not too hopeful as I have been told this before. He then hung up on me.
My daughter was a home birth. I had to go there to get her social security card and they have given me a complete and total run around. I have gone to the office twice. The first time they said everything was all set but the person who handles the new cards was not there but I should receive the card in 2 weeks. 3 weeks went by and no card. called and they told me I had to come in.
I called back and got someone else and she told me that she doesn't see anything on this at all! She then transferred me...once again to Miss Depina's line where I got a voicemail. again.
