So we had a hankering for burgers last night and headed over to Village Tavern Salem based on their high status from our burger poll, even though overall FB/Yelp reviews seemed mixed.
I had the Bourbon Street burger which was very juicy and a bit on the messy side, but really delicious.
DISGUSTING. and I am not talking about the food. I am talking about how you are treated. We went there with a group of 15 people and spent $285. A person of our group did infact get too drunk. When another member of our group escorted her to an uber, the bouncers would not let her back in. Even though she was at a reasonable level of intoxication. I went outside to attempt to reason with a bouncer. He then told me that we were ALL kicked out. I said that I refused to leave without my brother. They went in and found him and dragged him outside. He did absolutely nothing wrong. Guilty by association. I hope all the bouncers FEEL like they have a big dick or something. But it is clear to everyone they do not. They think they have some kind of power. What a pathetic excuse for human beings. Seriously. I am a nurse and I see all that life has to offer. I can say with all my heart and soul that these people at the Village Tavern in Salem, MA are absolutely disgusting, over confident, unprofessional and horrifying. I will never return. Expect a horrifying phone call in the AM. I expect a full refund for the false accusations and disgusting over-confidence of the bouncers.
The burgers were delicious and beer nuts are always a good side.
We'll have to go back just so I can devour another whole one, instead of just having a taste.
Great local tavern. Food is good, went their during October the place was packed. Great place to grab a drink and burgers or small plates. Not really kind of place for a more of a sit down meal. Wish they kept the ghost pepper burger on the menu.
Horrible service. Very crowded, but there were 4 bartenders on and 2 barbacks, they don't give any acknowledgement or even eye contact. The bartenders act like the customers are a burden yet we are giving them their paycheck. I'm all about tipping 30% +, but not when I'm treated as if I'm not welcomed. Ordered nachos, was told they would take an hour, they only took 20 minutes, but the chips were, uh, flexible. They didn't cook them long enough, so they were literally mush. I would have told someone but not one of the four checked on us. The food is one thing, but I sat with an empty drink and had to basically stand up to grab their attention. They need to learn to look people in the eyes to establish a connection and that they acknowledge people are waiting on their service. A simple "Hi someone will be right with you" with a smile would have changed my entire experience.
Despite a busy Friday evening service was prompt and attentive.
Wife got the featured Bacon & Brie burger and it might be one of the best burgers that's ever been crafted!
My daughter ate every single bite of her burger and sweet potato fries...never happens!
Good beer selection and our waitress was knowledgeable about different brews.
Since everyone did such a great job on dinner, we treated ourselves to Melt Ice Cream!
Sat outside, enjoyed the water feature, and had some real good burgers.
